The LHSAA football season will kick off on Friday night for the nine teams in District 1-A.

The District 1-A looks to be strong as they are already boasting three teams in the preseason LSWA Class A Top 10.   Calvary opens the season as the No. 1 team.   Homer currently is ranked No. 8.  Haynesville rounds out the list at No. 10.

The district is welcoming newcomer Glenbrook Apaches out of Minden to the LHSAA.  Just because they are a new team in the LHSAA doesn’t mean that they will be a pushover.   They bring Coach David Feaster who has led successful programs at Minden, Leesville, and Parkway.  He was the first-year head coach last year for the Apaches and came from D’Arbonne Woods before.  The Apaches will open at home against River Oaks in Week 1.

Defending state champion Calvary Cavaliers will be looking to add to the trophy case again this year.   The Cavaliers return Louisiana Tech quarterback commit Landry Liddy.  Coach Rodney Guin will start on the road against perennial powerhouse Logansport.

Homer was the surprise team in the Class A state playoffs making a run to the semifinals.  A feat they had not accomplished since Ronald Reagan was in office.  The Pels are looking strong again this year.   Homer will travel to Vivian and face the North Caddo Titans.

The Haynesville Golden Tornado is looking to cause some damage in the District 1-A field.  Their opponents always have to be on the lookout for Coach David Franklin’s Tors.  They open on the road to Springhill and take on North Webster.

Arcadia Hornets are also looking to face a District 1-3A opponent in the first week as they will travel to Bossier to face the Bearkats.

Plain Dealing 21 strong squad are looking to take on the role of David in facing the Class 4A Booker T Washington Lions at Leornard Barnes Stadium in Shreveport.

The Ringgold Redskins was cut short due to COVID-19 last season and only played two games.  Ringgold hopes to start to show the Gold Standard against Northwood-Lena.

Magnolia School of Excellence Mariners will be introducing new head coach Toriano Williams.  They will travel to Sibley and start against Lakeside.

Finally, the Lincoln Prep Panthers will open against Beekman Charter.
